My Mom fought food for 49 years. Now she keeps anything in the house, and forgets it's there!

    20/08/2026 | 1 h 6 min
My mom's first memory of being out of control with food was at 7 years old. She went on her first diet at age 14, and things became even more complicated in her 30's after giving birth to me, being diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and then having my sister.
Over the years, losing weight and controlling food became a major part of her life. And as her daughter, that was painful to witness too.
But today, she's 70, and for the past 7 years, hasn't worried about food or weight.
For the first time in her adult life, food is just ... food.
Sometimes when I visit my parents I'll open the fridge and notice some delicious-looking sweet treats that NEVER would have lasted more than a day when I was growing up. Now my mom forgets they're even there. I've found things literally expired because she genuinely forgot about them.
I'm so proud of my mom.
I'm also so grateful for her that she was willing to come on the podcast this week because she is not the kind of person who loves the attention. or putting herself out there publicly. it's really not her thing.
But she did it for us. Because she feels a lot of compassion for others who struggle with food, because that was her life for 49+ years.
And now since she's in a totally different place, she knows the value of sharing her story with you, to show what's possible.
So please ENJOY some time with me and my Mom! You'll appreciate her very much.

"Why can't I stick to things like I used to?" (Listen before you give up!)

    18/08/2026 | 28 min
Why is that you used to be able to stick to something for 6 months straight, and now it takes all your willpower to even make it though one day?

I know what you’re thinking: it’s not a lack of discipline. Tough to motivate. Lack of willpower.

    No.

The same thing happened to me. I could control my eating for months. Then I’d fall off. When I tried to get back on, those periods of being “all in” gradually became shorter, until I literally couldn’t make it a single day without a binge.

I was so pissed off at myself for my lack of discipline.

But once I saw the real reason this was happening to me, it was a huge relief.

That’s what this episode is about.

How I Kept the Weight Off for 10 Years (Without Trying To)

    13/08/2026 | 33 min
I used to be 25 pounds heavier than I am now, and I'm under 5ft tall. But for the last 10 years I haven't struggled with my weight.
But I wouldn't say I've "maintained" it. Maintaining implies effort like I'm holding something in place. It doesn't feel like that at all.
So if I'm not putting effort into my weight, where is the effort going?
Into two internal shifts. That's it. And once I made them, weight stopped being something I had to think about ... it just became a side effect of how I was already living.
This week's episode: the two shifts and how to make them.

The Most Subtle Thing That'll Kill Your Progress

    11/08/2026 | 44 min
If you feel like you've been fighting the same battle for way too long, pay attention.
I keep thinking I've outgrown this, but 10 days ago I literally almost sabotaged myself out of the one thing I needed most.
But it was SUBTLE. I almost didn't catch it.
It didn't even sound like self-sabotage.
It actually sounded responsible. Smart. Logical, even!
Thank god I caught myself mid-thought and literally said out loud:
“KATIE, WHAT ARE YOU DOING RIGHT NOW?!”
And then I realized just how much this pattern has cost me over the years.
This was so freaking sneaky I need to make sure you don't make the same mistake, because it's the kind of mistake that can kill your progress for years.
So in this week's episode, I tell you exactly what happened (embarrassing, but that's why I'm sharing it) and give you 4 tests you can use to catch this kind of self-sabotage before it costs you years of progress, too.
If you've been fighting the same food battle  (or any other pattern) for years and you're ready for lasting change, this one's for you.Work with me to change your relationship with food completely: katiepapo.com/programsWatch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@katiepapo108Follow me on social media for more angles to help you reinforce new thinking patterns around food and your success:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/katiepapo108/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/katiepapo108TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@katiepapo

Freedom from 60+ Years of Food Struggles

    06/08/2026 | 29 min
It doesn't matter how long you've struggled - all that matters is what you do now.
    Meet Grace.
Grace felt her first out-of-control feelings around food when she was 5 years old.
When she was 5, she ate for comfort when she was home alone.
That was the beginning of six decades of food struggles, dieting, binges, and constant food noise.
Now looking back at age 68, she sees food and herself so differently than she has for most of her life.
In this episode, Grace shares the intimate details of how her mind was operating around food for all those decades ... as well as the changes it took for her to come out the other side (more free than she even imagined!)
Not everyone is willing to share their story so openly on the internet. Grace is, because she wants others to know what's possible for them too.

Acerca de Outgrow Binge Eating
I used to eat so much that I'd literally crawl to bed, because my stomach hurt so badly I couldn't stand up. Then I'd eat more in bed. Now I'm 10 years free. Not 'in recovery.' Not 'managing it.' A full decade of simply not wanting to stuff my face anymore. Before, I was *constantly* thinking of food. Now? I wouldn't trade my relationship with food with anyone. This podcast isn't about having 'more control'. That only works for 2 seconds. It's about creating a new mind, and a new normal, where food is a non-issue. You've outgrown the old you.
