Mitchell Dudas was a professional dancer, trapeze instructor, and fitness coach whose life revolved around movement. But after years of chronic pain, multiple disc herniations, and a terrifying temporary paralysis scare, everything changed.
At just 34 years old, Mitchell was told his MRI looked like the spine of someone in their 60s. Doctors discovered severe cervical disc herniations compressing his spinal cord, leading to emergency surgery to avoid permanent paralysis.
But even after surgery, Mitchell was still living with chronic pain, sciatica, inflammation, and fear about his future.
That’s when he finally learned the real underlying issue: hypermobility.
In this episode, Mitchell shares how hypermobile spine instability contributed to years of injuries, failed rehab attempts, chronic pain, and eventually surgery — and how the Whealth Hypermobile Program helped him rebuild strength, regain confidence, and finally feel hopeful about the future again.
    If you’re dealing with:
    Hypermobility or hypermobile spine pain

Chronic neck pain or shoulder pain

    Disc herniations or sciatica

Feeling dismissed by doctors or PTs
    …this episode is for you.

    Topics Covered:
Temporary paralysis scare after a disc herniation

MRI showing severe cervical degeneration at age 34

    Why Mitchell needed neck surgery

Living with pain even after surgery

    Discovering hypermobility and spinal instability

Why traditional PT didn’t fully help

Chronic pain and mental health struggles

How the Whealth Hypermobile Program changed his recovery

    Learning to move safely again

Returning to dance and strength training pain-free

-Why IBS is often misunderstood-The connection between MCAS, POTS, and hypermobility-Why “normal tests” don’t always mean you’re healthy-The role of stress, environment, and inflammation-Why there’s no definitive test for MCAS-How Dr. Spiritos approaches treatment differently-The importance of individualized care and slow progress-Why patients often feel dismissed — and what needs to change

One even told him:“99 out of 100 times… we’re operating.”At his worst, Bryan:-Couldn’t walk, sit, or stand without severe pain-Developed drop foot and nerve symptoms-Tried injections, PT, and anything to numb the pain-Was on the verge of filing for disability-Fell into a state of depression after losing his active lifestyleHe had no clear injury. No accident. Just a gradual breakdown that took everything from him.Instead of going through with surgery (and potentially a fusion in his late 30s), Bryan decided to try a different path. He committed to rebuilding his body through movement.Over time:-Pain started to decrease-Function returned-He hit a breakthrough moment running up stairs for the first time in nearly a year-Follow-up imaging showed dramatic improvement-A doctor even created a case report on his recoveryToday, Bryan is:Completely pain-free, laying hockey multiple times per week, Rrunning, biking, and lifting without limitations. Living a fully active life again. In his own words:“You saved my life… emotionally.”This episode breaks down exactly what happened, what he learned, and what’s actually possible when you approach recovery the right way.If you’re dealing with:• Sciatica• Disc herniations or bulges• Chronic back pain• Nerve pain, numbness, or tingling• Being told you “need surgery”• Failed PT, injections, or temporary fixesYou’re not alone, and you’re not broken. What you’ll learn in this episode:• What a severe disc herniation can feel like (and how quickly things can spiral)• Why multiple doctors may recommend surgery—and when to question it• What early-stage recovery actually looks like (hint: it’s not glamorous)• How small, consistent progress leads to massive breakthroughs• The mindset required to push through the hardest phases of recovery• Why movement quality and body mechanics matter more than quick fixes• How Bryan returned to sport and daily life pain-freeTopics discussed:disc herniation recovery, sciatica recovery, avoid back surgery, non-surgical back pain treatment, disc herniation healed, L4-L5 disc herniation, L5-S1 disc herniation, drop foot recovery, nerve pain, back pain relief, physical therapy alternatives, mobility training, biomechanics, chronic pain recoveryIf this story resonates with you, drop a comment or reach out. One day while snowboarding, Sachin made a move and his entire leg felt like it was on fire.

Within days, he couldn’t move, couldn’t sit, couldn’t function without intense burning sciatica. An MRI revealed two disc herniations (11mm L4-L5, 7mm L5-S1) and spine surgeons recommended surgery, including a laminectomy and microdiscectomy.

At that point, surgery didn’t sit well with him. He had real reservations and started questioning his path forward:

What would life look like after his first surgery?
Would it actually fix the problem, or just lead to more?
Would he eventually need a fusion, knowing how often one surgery turns into another, and another?

Sachin also had concerns about the long-term efficacy of surgery, knowing that many people can end up back in the same place and require additional procedures down the line.

He had seen the success of many Whealth members who avoided surgery, so he wanted to try the Limitless program first. He told his spine surgeon that plan and they agreed it was a fair approach.

Instead of rushing into surgery, he joined the Whealth Limitless Program.

He didn’t want to end up back in the same place. He knew he needed to rebuild his body mechanics and take a more holistic, long-term approach.

Within the program, he learned how to actually move his body, which was empowering.

Within 3 to 4 weeks, pain started improving.
By 8 weeks, he was not only pain-free, he felt better than before the injury.

Like many of our members, he didn’t just heal. The injury forced him to slow down and focus on things most people skip. Movement quality, body mechanics, posture, and awareness. Because of that, he didn’t just get out of pain. He broke through plateaus and came back stronger than before.
