- We've been told that cultivating fierce independence in our daughters is the path to their success and protection.
But what if that's completely wrong?
What if the Bible actually points us toward something radically different?
In our modern Western culture, we've bought into the idea that the ultimate goal for raising daughters is to make them fiercely independent from men, from family, from everyone. The thinking goes that if we don't, they'll be vulnerable and taken advantage of.
But Scripture tells a completely different story.
When you look at peak daughterhood in the Bible, from Ruth to Esther to Tamar, you don't see fierce independence being cultivated. You see something else entirely: fierce loyalty.
This isn't about making women vulnerable or unprotected. It's about understanding God's design for how daughters are protected and how they thrive within the family team structure.
In this episode, April and I unpack what it looks like to cultivate fierce loyalty instead of fierce independence in your daughters, why this is actually MORE protective (not less), and how this plays out practically in family life.
April shares her own story of growing up with a father who cultivated this kind of loyalty in her heart, and how that transferred into our marriage and family in such a beautiful, stabilizing way.
We also dive into the book of Ruth (which uses the word "daughter" more than any other book in the Bible) to see how God protects vulnerable women not through independence, but through family loyalty and covenant relationships.
If you're raising daughters, this conversation will challenge everything you've been taught and give you a biblical vision for what you're actually cultivating in their hearts.
On this episode, we talk about:
0:00 What Spirit Should We Be Cultivating In Our Daughters?
2:54 Fierce Loyalty
4:15 The Biblical Argument
8:48 Modern vs. Biblical Tension
12:08 The Garden Of A Daughter's Heart
22:00 But What If This Feels Really Unsafe?

"Leave and cleave".
In our modern times, we've read our own hyper-individualistic western culture into the Scriptures, and have completely missed the fact that the Bible itself disproves this very interpretation.
We think that to leave and cleave means to almost completely separate from our birth family, probably move a few states away, and start fresh, basically.
This is sooo unbiblical, and would have been suicide in biblical times.
In this episode, I'm going to show you why the modern interpretation of this is so bad and so damaging, and then give you the truth of what it can and should actually look like as you build your own multi-generational family team...just like God designed.

Make sure to subscribe on Apple, Spotify, or YouTube so you don't miss out on future episodes! - What can Star Wars and Pontius Pilate teach us about God's design for marriage?
A surprising amount, actually.
In this episode, I'm going to dive into one of the most loaded marriage terms in the Bible: "suitable".
Do you know what this word actually means in the original Hebrew?
It's not at all what you think.
In fact, I almost never hear people talking about this.
There seem to be 2 camps that can basically be summed up as, "my wife needs to submit to everything" and "we're equal so nobody leads".
The definition of this word makes ALL the difference, and really shines a light on how God designed marriage, and how it operates best.
On this episode, we talk about:

1:27 Why Marriage Actually Exists
5:25 The Most Loaded Phrase About Marriage
8:29 Star Wars Marriage

But we have the Holy Spirit dwelling within us...shouldn't that make a DIFFERENCE in how we do family?
I think our generation lacks the Biblical vision for family that God cast way back in Genesis 1.
In this episode, I'm going to walk you through a 5-Generation strategy for fulfilling both the role of the family that God created in Genesis 1:28 and the Great Commission.
I guarantee you've never heard family like this.
And once you do, I hope you'll never be able to unsee it.

2:33 Gen 2: Multiply
3:39 Gen 3: Fill
5:43 Gen 4: Subdue
