- What if your biggest reaction isn’t really about what’s happening now?
Rebecca Sheikh and psychologist Robin Grille explore how body memory, old wounds, and present-day triggers can shape the way we love, parent, and relate. When an ordinary decision about a movie with her daughters unexpectedly brings up terror and anger, Rebecca and Robin follow the reaction beneath the surface.
Together, they unpack the difference between story memory and body memory, why the nervous system can respond to the present as though it were the past, and how a trigger may point to an unmet need that has been waiting for attention. In this conversation, you’ll discover why everyday moments can bring up outsized reactions, how sensory experiences can connect to old emotional memories, and how taking ownership of a reaction can shift a relationship.
Rebecca shares a personal experience while Robin guides her through the inner child journey process he uses with parents, couples, and people working through recurring patterns. If you’ve ever wondered why something small can feel so enormous, this episode offers a compassionate place to begin: instead of asking, “What is wrong with me?” ask, “What is this reaction trying to tell me?”

Acerca de Inner Child Journey Conversations
What if what’s happening now is connected to something much older?Welcome to Inner Child Journey Conversations.I'm Rebecca Sheikh from Flourishing Childhood and I’m thrilled to be hosting this monthly podcast with Robin Grille psychotherapist, writer and parent educator to explore the moments in our lives when our reactions seem bigger, deeper or more familiar than the situation in front of us.It might show up in our relationships, our families, our work or our parenting. In the fear of being rejected. The need to please. The anger that suddenly takes over. The difficulty saying no. Or simply that feeling of, “Why does this affect me so much?”Each week, we’ll begin by exploring a different aspect of the Inner Child Journey process , what it can help us understand about ourselves, the patterns we carry, and the ways our earlier experiences can continue to shape our lives. Then we’ll move from understanding into experience. We’ll begin with something real that’s happening in someone’s life right now and, rather than just talking about it, Robin will guide them through a live Inner Child Journey — gently following what’s happening in the present to discover what might be asking for attention from the past.We don’t know where each journey will take us.
