In this raw and powerful episode, I continue the story of my first Rose daughter, Sarai— and share, for only the second time ever, the full story of her birth.
After months of injury, prodromal labor, and an exhausted body, I found myself at 41 weeks pregnant, dragging a broken foot in 105-degree South Carolina heat, trying to force what could only come through complete surrender.
What followed was the most excruciating, traumatic, and ultimately transformative experience of my life — a water birth that took me to the depths of the underworld and back, guided by Mary Magdalene every step of the way.
