RED SOX POSTCAST: Dustin May Debuts & Sox 2 Win Streaks End
The Red Sox (64-52) 2 winning streaks came to an end with a 7-3 loss to the Kansas City in the series finale Wednesday night at Fenway Park. With the loss, the Sox 7-game win streak ended and so did the team's 7-game home winning streak. The Sox fell to 4.0 games behind Toronto for 1st-place in the AL East with the Blue Jays pounded in the Rockies at Coors Field. The Sox went 5-1 on their homestand vs. the Astros and Royals. ----- Dustin's Debut: Dustin May made his Red Sox debut in the series finale Wednesday night, and he did not get out oof the 4th Inning. May went 3.2 Innings and gave up 3 earned runs on 6 hits. He walked 1, hit 2 batters and struck out 4. Bobby Witt Jr. knocked in the first run off May with an RBI Single in the 3rd. Royals went in front against May and the Sox in the 4th when Kyle Isbel knocked in a pair of runs with a Single. ----- Sox at the Dish: The Red Sox got on the board first on a 2-out, 2-run Double from Romy Gonzalez in the 1st Inning against Royals starter and winning pitcher Michael Wacha. Trevor Story extended his hit streak to 8 in a row with a Single in the 6th Inning, and he was erased on a Double Play (13 Hits. 4 2B. 3 HR. 10 RBIs). Story knocked in a run with 2-out RBI Single in the 8th. Story has 12 RBIs over his current 8-game hit streak. Roman Anthony returned to the lineup and went 0-for-4, ending his 8-game hit streak. It was announced on Wednesday that Anthony and the club agreed on an 8-year ($130 Million Dollar) contract extension. -----At-Bat of the Game: Jonathan India belted a 3-run Home Run off Jordan Hicks in the 7th Inning and that put the Royals up, 6-2. -----#'s of the NIGHT: --The Sox are now 42-16 when scoring first on the season. --Jarren Duran became the 12th different hitter to bat in the clean-up spot in Wednesday's finale.
