(Audio Only) St Francis Prayer in Latin | “Make Me an Instrument of Your Peace” Word-by-Word Latin Learning Guide
19/06/2026 | 7 minSt. Francis of Assisi Prayer: "Lord, make me an instrument of your peace" in Latin and English.
In this episode of the Latin Prayer Podcast, we explore the Prayer of St. Francis in Latin through a detailed word-by-word learning guide. While traditionally attributed to St. Francis of Assisi, historical evidence suggests it likely emerged in the early 20th century, yet it still reflects the spiritual tone associated with him.
We break down the full Latin text line by line, including vocabulary, grammar patterns, and meaning shifts that make this prayer one of the most powerful for Latin learners and devotional listeners alike.
You’ll learn how repeating structures like ubi odium, amorem seram build meaning, and how the prayer transitions from outward intercession to inward transformation: becoming the one who consoles, understands, and loves.

The Bible never says Scripture is the sole authority of the Christian faith, and the Latin proves it. In this episode, we examine three texts from St. Paul and St. Peter and let the grammar do the work. No philosophical argument. No circular reasoning. Just the words themselves, in the language the Church has always read them.

This video explores the concept of biblical authority within Christianity, specifically addressing the divide between Protestant and Catholic beliefs. We examine why the Bible does not explicitly state scripture is the sole authority, and how Latin texts provide additional insight. The discussion sheds light on the differences between "sola scriptura" and the Catholic view, offering a deeper understanding of the Christian theology at play. You will also see familiar Latin prayers such as Pater Noster, Ave Maria, and Gloria Patri.

Acerca de The Latin Prayer Podcast
We are living in difficult times, both in the Church and in the world. Now more than ever, ordinary Catholics must fight for the salvation of souls and personal sanctity. Latin is the universal language of the Church, made holy when it was nailed to the Cross with Christ (John 19:19–20). It connects us to the worship of Heaven and strengthens our prayers.
In 2017, I wanted to pray the Rosary in Latin but couldn’t find a podcast to follow. So I made one. It has since grown into a full library of Rosaries, Litanies, Chaplets, and other traditional prayers. I’ve also created Latin learning guides and printable resources, available through Patreon, to help you pray with clarity and confidence, whether on your own or with your family.
This is about restoring Catholic prayer, reclaiming sacred tradition, and forming a movement of families praying daily in Latin for the salvation of souls and the renewal of Holy Mother Church.
