    I'm a Skier at Heart

    Pathways.

Every now and then a Star Trek book comes along that gives readers a deeper, more meaningful understanding of the characters we've grown to love on screen. Done well, these kinds of books can give you a great appreciation for characters you once thought were underdeveloped. Done poorly, these kinds of books can be extremely frustrating.

In this episode of Literary Treks, hosts Casey Pettitt and Jonathan Koan discuss Pathways, the Star Trek: Voyager novel by none other than series co-creator, Jeri Taylor. They discuss each of the characters' stories and whether the book stands up.

In the news section, there's a lot of new comics coming out from IDW. And we've got a new book announcement!

    “Proving Ground” 20th-anniversary reflections
An old man once said, "It's dangerous to go alone!" That's something the crew of the Enterprise has learned to be true as they've pursued the Xindi weapon. Luckily, a helping hand is on the way. A blue one. It's been a long time since Archer last crossed paths with Shran, but when the Andorian Commander shows up in the Expanse, he's glad to see him. Even if the Andorian agenda may not really be to save the pink skins, the assist is still appreciated. The sabotage? Not so much.
In this episode of Warp Five, hosts C Bryan Jones and Matthew Rushing continue our 20th-anniversary retrospective that takes you through all of Star Trek: Enterprise, one episode at a time. In this installment, we continue Season 3 with “Proving Ground” as we discuss the reintroduction of Shran, Andorian–Human connections, the Xindi arc's real-world connections, and more.

    “Cathexis” 30th-anniversary reflections
While Captain Janeway shacks up in ancient England, Chakotay has an out-of-body experience. There's been an attack on the shuttle he was riding around in with Tuvok, and while the Vulcan suffered only a concussion, all of Chakotay's bio-neural energy has been drained and he has fallen into a coma. The Doctor says he can keep him alive, but nothing more, since his brain is dead. That's when B'Elanna turns to a medicine wheel to save her old friend.
In this episode of To The Journey, hosts C Bryan Jones and Matthew Rushing continue our 30th-anniversary retrospective that will take you through all of Star Trek: Voyager, one episode at a time. In this installment, we discuss “Cathexis,” the writers' attempt to add depth to Chakotay's Native American heritage, the twist, and, of course, that holonovel.
