Pop Cult

Welcome to Pop Cult: The Fame Files
We’re back with a celeb deep dive this week and this time we’re talking about one of Hollywood’s most down to earth members - Riley Keough! If we haven’t convinced you to watch Daisy Jones & The Six (the best show ever made) by the end of this episode, we have done a terrible job. But there’s much more to her and we had a blast unpacking it all.
The Fame Files is part of Pop Cult, where we unpack pop culture’s biggest stories, scandals, and icons.
Join us on Tuesday for our next episode of Reality Digest, where we’ll cover the previous weeks’ pop culture chaos and debrief the latest episodes of our favorite reality shows!

It’s Pop Cult ONE YEAR!!!!! We can’t believe it’s been a whole year of chatting about our favorite shows and favorite moments throughout pop culture history. What better way to celebrate our anniversary than to STILL be talking about Below Deck???? Always one of our favorite shows to recap, we are sad to say that Med is ending next week. But fortunately just in time for Below Deck REG to start up. It also brings us back to when we would spend a whole hour on DWTS alone. Which we could certainly still do given our takes this season but we’ve learned self control. Unlike the SLC ladies who can’t help themselves from a good screaming match and we have mixed feelings on their newest addition. But we will always rank them above our other group of SLC women from Mormon Wives. Fork found in kitchen (IYKYK). We’re feeling very nostalgic about the return of Special Forces as well and are becoming sports fans with how the athletes this season are just blowing everyone else out of the water. We discuss that we would actually love to see Alix on this show, but for now, we’ll take what we can get of her and her extremely entertaining family.

We couldn’t be happier to say goodbye to The Girls cast who we somehow have made it through a whole season learning nothing about. We’re not holding our breath on the return of this one (thankfully). Our favorite Utah residents are back in full swing with the drama and we have thoughts on the ladies judging Bronwyn’s new relationship. Our second favorite Utah residents go traveling and we were equally perplexed and annoyed at a certain member of MomTok (unsurprisingly). Much like the our Earle Meets World leading lady, we WANT to like her stepmom, but BOOOYYYYY does she make it tough. Much like a particular crew member on Below Deck Med. We’re thinking she may have forgotten that this entire charter season was caught on camera. And of course we debrief last week’s episode of DWTS. Our front runners are our 2 Olympic athletes and we have thoughts on the stars who have a little more dance experience than the rest of the bunch.

Welcome to Pop Cult: The Fame Files
This week we are chatting about a bunch of iconic roles that we all know and love - and could never imagine anyone else playing. But much like interviewing for a job, these shows also “interview” multiple people for these parts. We found ourselves shocked, surprised, and mind blown a couple of times - especially finding out that Reese Witherspoon may have not been Elle and Derek Shepard could have been someone else entirely.

Our favorite housewife franchise has made its return. It’s defrosted like the snow in Utah and we can’t wait to see what unfolds this season. Especially with Bronwyn at the head. Mormon Wives continues to give us heart palpitations but at least we’ve seen growth in a couple of them. We’re becoming more invested in Earle Meets World, particularly when it comes to her very fascinating family dynamics. The Girls finally gave us something this week after truly putting us to sleep for the last 4 weeks. What happens in Vegas definitely will not stay there. As we round out this season of Below Deck Med, we ponder what in the world made Captain Sandy think Nathan would be a good boss and we also celebrate the return of several cast members to next season - which they are already filming. YAY!
