James Vowles took to his F1 team's social media feeds to discuss what's going on with their 2026 machine, since it has missed the first ever Formula 1 test session of the season. In it, he denies rumours regarding FIA chassis crash test failures and a supposed heavy car. Does this go some way to dispel worries about the Formula One team? Yes, but it is still a calculated move.

The events of the second day of pre-season running of Formula 1 cars has only gone and brought into sharp relief the awkward nature of this first chapter of the 2026 season. The teams want privacy, Formula One wants content and us fans? We just want stuff to chew over after weeks of nothing but speculation.

Instead, we got a scenario where nobody is happy.
