7-Minute Somatic Meditation | Returning to Calm After Stress

    18/09/2026 | 7 min
This 7-minute somatic meditation is designed to help your body gently settle after stress and return toward greater calm, steadiness, and nervous system regulation through orienting, mindful breathing, rhythmic tapping, grounding, and supportive self-touch.
Through noticing steady objects in your environment, slowing your breath, gently tapping from side to side, and reconnecting with the support beneath your body, this meditation offers your nervous system a slower, steadier rhythm after periods of stress, tension, or heightened alertness.
Somatic meditation brings awareness back to what is happening in the body right now. After stress, you may notice tension, restlessness, racing thoughts, or difficulty settling. Rather than trying to force these sensations away, this practice invites you to reconnect with simple sensations of support, rhythm, breath, and physical contact.
This practice is a gentle reminder that you don't have to rush yourself back to calm. Regulation can happen little by little—one slower breath, one grounding sensation, and one quiet moment at a time.
✨ In this somatic meditation you will experience:
    • Gentle orienting to notice steadiness around you
    • Grounding through the support beneath your body
    • Slow breathing to help your system begin to settle
    • Gentle alternating tapping for rhythmic sensory input
    • Supportive self-touch and body awareness
    • Softening through the shoulders, jaw, and belly
    • Quiet integration as you return toward greater ease
    🕊 Practice Length: ~7 minutes
🪷 Props Suggested: blanket • pillow • something supportive to sit or lean against (optional)
🪷 Best For: stress relief • nervous system regulation • calming after stress • overwhelm • feeling on edge • anxiety support • grounding • emotional regulation • somatic meditation • quick nervous system reset
"You do not need to rush yourself back to calm. Give your body time, support, and space to find its way." 🌿

IHF - What Are Triggers? | Understanding Your Nervous System

    15/09/2026 | 8 min
Episode 15 — What Are Triggers? | Understanding Your Nervous System
This Inner Haven Foundations episode explores triggers from a nervous system perspective — what they are, why the body can sometimes react so quickly, and how understanding our patterns can help us respond with greater awareness and choice.
A trigger might be a sound, smell, place, conversation, conflict, tone of voice, memory, emotion, or even a sensation within the body. Sometimes we understand exactly why something affects us. Other times, our reaction can feel surprising or much bigger than the moment itself.
Our nervous systems learn from experience. Sometimes something happening in the present can remind the nervous system of an earlier experience, causing the body to respond before our thinking mind fully understands what is happening.
Rather than judging these reactions, somatic awareness invites us to become curious. We can begin noticing what happened, what changed in the body, what our body wanted to do, and what might help us feel supported.
✨ In this episode, you’ll learn:
    • What triggers are from a nervous system perspective
    • Why the body may react before the mind understands why
    • How experiences can shape nervous system responses
    • Early body signals that may accompany a trigger
    • How to recognize your patterns without judgment
    • Why triggers can offer information about what is happening within you
    • How grounding, orienting, boundaries, movement, space, and connection may help
    • How awareness can gradually create more choice in how we respond
    🕊 Episode Length: ~9 minutes
🪷 Best For: understanding triggers • nervous system education • emotional triggers • somatic awareness • stress responses • emotional regulation • grounding • nervous system regulation
"Working with triggers isn't about controlling every response. It's about learning your patterns, understanding your body's signals, and building more support around difficult moments." 🌿
💛 Guided by Megan | Inner Haven Foundations
This week, rather than trying to fix your triggers, simply become curious about them.
    You might ask:
What happened just before I felt this shift?
What did I notice in my body?
What did my body want to do?
What might help me feel supported right now?
You may notice these things in the moment, or you may recognize them afterward. Both matter.
The goal isn't perfect awareness. It's slowly learning the language of your nervous system.
If you'd like to understand your nervous system more deeply, you're warmly invited to explore the Inner Haven Resource Library, filled with gentle workbooks, guides, reflection tools, and resources for building somatic awareness.
You can also explore the Inner Haven Practice Library, with guided somatic practices, gentle yoga, restorative practices, meditations, breath practices, grounding exercises, and quick nervous system resets for different moments and needs.

10-Minute Somatic Meditation | Softening Out of Survival Mode

    11/09/2026 | 9 min
This 10-minute somatic meditation is designed to help your body gently soften out of survival mode, release some of the tension of staying alert or braced, and reconnect with a greater sense of support through grounding, breath, body awareness, gentle movement, and supportive self-touch.
Through awareness of the support behind your body, soft belly breathing, intentional tension and release, gentle self-contact, and slow exhales, this meditation creates space to notice protective patterns without judging them. Rather than asking your body to suddenly relax, the practice invites small moments of softening, support, and less urgency.
When the nervous system has been under ongoing stress, the body may become more accustomed to bracing, guarding, scanning, or staying ready to respond. Somatic practices bring gentle attention to these patterns while offering new sensory experiences—feeling supported from behind, noticing the difference between gripping and releasing, and allowing the breath and body to soften at their own pace.
This practice is a gentle reminder that you do not have to force yourself into calm. Your protective responses have been trying to help you, and they do not need to disappear for you to experience a moment of rest. You are simply offering your body a pause—a few quiet minutes where nothing needs to be accomplished and nothing needs to be pushed.
✨ In this somatic meditation you will experience:
    • Grounding through awareness of the support behind your body
    • Slow breathing to invite greater ease and steadiness
    • Gentle belly breathing to explore softening and releasing bracing
    • Shoulder tension and release to notice the difference between gripping and letting go
    • Softening through the jaw, face, and eyes
    • Supportive hand-to-heart and belly contact
    • Compassionate awareness of the body's protective responses
    • Quiet integration without pressure to completely relax
    🕊 Practice Length: ~10 minutes
🪷 Props Suggested: blanket • pillow • chair or something supportive to lean against (optional)
🪷 Best For: survival mode • chronic stress • nervous system regulation • feeling on edge • overwhelm • tension • hypervigilance • grounding • burnout support • somatic meditation • calming practice
"You don't have to soften all at once. Sometimes healing begins with one small moment where your body realizes it doesn't have to work quite so hard." 🌿

IHF - Shutdown: When Your Nervous System Has Had Too Much

    08/09/2026 | 8 min
This Inner Haven Foundations episode explores nervous system shutdown — a protective response that can sometimes happen when stress, overwhelm, or emotional demands begin to feel like too much.
While some stress responses create more energy and activation, shutdown can move us in the opposite direction. The body may begin conserving energy, leaving us feeling heavy, tired, numb, disconnected, withdrawn, unmotivated, or mentally foggy.
These experiences can be easy to misunderstand. We might tell ourselves we’re lazy, that we should be doing more, or wonder why we can’t simply push through. But somatic awareness offers another possibility: instead of immediately judging what we’re experiencing, we can become curious about what may be happening in the body.
In this episode, we’ll explore why the way forward from shutdown often isn’t through forcing ourselves into action. Instead, small moments of sensation, movement, orientation, connection, and support can offer gentle opportunities to reconnect.
And importantly, fatigue, brain fog, numbness, and low motivation can have many causes. Not every experience of exhaustion or disconnection is a nervous system shutdown response. This episode is an invitation to become more curious about your experience rather than trying to diagnose or label it.
✨ In this episode, you’ll learn:
    • What nervous system shutdown can feel like
    • How shutdown differs from a more activated stress response
    • Why the nervous system may begin conserving energy
    • Common signs of shutdown and disconnection
    • Why shame and self-judgment may make support harder
    • How to begin noticing your own patterns
    • Why tiny movements and sensory experiences can be meaningful
    • Simple ways to gently reconnect with yourself
    • How to meet low-energy states with greater curiosity and care
    🕊 Episode Length: ~9 minutes
🪷 Best For: nervous system education • shutdown response • low energy • feeling disconnected • overwhelm • somatic awareness • emotional exhaustion • nervous system regulation • grounding • gentle reconnection
"You don't need to make a big shift. Sometimes tiny really is enough." 🌿
💛 Guided by Megan | Inner Haven Foundations
If you notice yourself feeling heavy, disconnected, or overwhelmed, rather than asking yourself to immediately do more, you might gently ask:
What is one tiny thing that might help me reconnect right now?
Maybe it’s feeling your feet against the floor.
    Opening the curtains.
    Taking a sip of water.
    Moving your fingers.
    Stepping outside.
    Listening to a familiar song.
Or connecting with someone you trust.
You don't have to move from shutdown to energized all at once. Sometimes the next supportive step is very small — and small is enough.
If you’d like to understand your nervous system more deeply, you’re warmly invited to explore the Inner Haven Resource Library, where you’ll find supportive workbooks, guides, reflection tools, and nervous system education to explore at your own pace.
And when you’re ready to practice, the Inner Haven Practice Library offers somatic movement, gentle yoga, restorative practices, guided meditations, breath practices, and quick resets for different nervous system states and needs.

10-Minute Grounding Meditation for the Present Moment | Come Back to Your Body

    04/09/2026 | 10 min
This 10-minute somatic grounding meditation is designed to help calm a busy or overwhelmed mind and gently bring your awareness back to the present moment through orienting, breath, sensory awareness, grounding, and supportive self-touch.
Through visual orienting, gentle pressure through the feet, slow breathing, warming the hands, supportive touch, and a simple sensory grounding practice, this meditation helps shift attention away from racing thoughts, worries, memories, or future-focused thinking and back toward what you can see, feel, hear, and experience right now.
Somatic meditation works by bringing awareness back to the body and physical sensation. When the mind feels far away or caught in thought, noticing the ground beneath you, the warmth of your hands, the sounds around you, or the feeling of your breath can provide simple anchors to the present. You don't need to force your thoughts to stop—you are simply giving your attention somewhere steady to return.
This practice is a gentle invitation to come back to what is here now. You do not need to solve the future or replay the past in this moment. You are invited to notice, breathe, feel, and allow your body to guide you gently back to the present.
✨ In this somatic meditation you will experience:
    • Visual orienting to reconnect with your surroundings
    • Slow breathing to support nervous system settling
    • Grounding pressure through the feet and legs
    • Sensory awareness through warmth, texture, sound, and touch
    • Supportive self-touch using the warmth of your hands
    • A gentle 5-4-3 sensory grounding practice
    • Quiet reorientation to the here and now
    🕊 Practice Length: ~10 minutes
🪷 Props Suggested: None — simply find a comfortable place where your feet can connect with the ground
🪷 Best For: grounding • present moment awareness • racing thoughts • overwhelm • anxiety support • nervous system regulation • mindfulness • stress relief • feeling disconnected • somatic meditation • calming practice
"You do not need to solve the future or replay the past. For this moment, you only need to be here." 🌿
