Night Demon Heavy Metal Podcast

In August 2026, Jarvis from Night Demon caught up with western Canadian metal veterans Iron Kingdom at a show in St. John's, Newfoundland. That experience gave rise to a multipart conversation between Jarvis and Chris and Leighton from Iron Kingdom. This week you will hear about Iron Kingdom's ancient tour bus, a brief history of the band, their epic 34-show Canadian tour in summer 2026, the difficulties for a Canadian band to tour America, and how the Night Demon / Iron Kingdom West Coast USA tour came about in 2014. It's a cool hang and a fun listen.

This week we bring you the third and final installment of Jarvis's fascinating in-depth interview with Cirith Ungol co-founder Greg Lindstrom, reminiscing about the early days of the band. Greg talks about the many songs he wrote for Cirith Ungol in the late 1970s that were either not recorded until many years later or were never recorded at all, with perhaps some parts cannibalized for future songs. He explains the band's decision to self-release their Frost and Fire debut album, and all the work it took to get product into record stores. He explains his feelings about the sound of the album, how and why he came to leave the band shortly thereafter, and reflects on the experience and cultural significance of the album 45 years later. It's an insightful look into an important chapter of heavy metal history, as told by someone who was there.

This week we bring you the second installment of Jarvis' insightful conversation with Cirith Ungol co-founder Greg Lindstrom. During this chat, Greg explains how Robert Garven, Jerry Fogle and he formed the short-lived band Titanic and how Titanic morphed into Cirith Ungol. He talks about early gear, early jam sessions, and early performances, including a disastrous stint supporting a theater production of The Hobbit. Greg also fills in the gap in the band's history from 1971 to 1978, featuring a prolific songwriting period spanning from 1976 to 1979, which yielded some of Cirith Ungol's best-loved material to this day.
