MATEUS ART.
Mayra Mateus, also known as Mateus Art, is a Miami-based pop artist and storyteller who was born in Cali, Colombia, in 1995. She discovered her passion for art while working as a cashier at a local pizzeria in 2016. Her creativity sparked when she designed the restaurant's menus, and since then, she has never looked back.
Mateus enrolled at Miami Dade College in the same year to formally study art, but she soon realized that the realism-style art taught in school did not fulfill her.
After some personal hardships, she dropped out and continued her self-discovery journey.
In 2017, Mateus found her artistic home in the vibrant Wynwood neighborhood of Miami, where she resonated with the street and spray-paint style of pop art.
Her love for colors, shapes, and stories led her to pursue pop art and professionalize her work. She formed a corporation, brand, and trademark and created a portfolio of various mediums, with a piggy bank character as the center of her brand.
Mateus's message is clear:
"Saving
Dreams." Through her art, she aims to inspire people to pursue their dreams, reminding them that the pursuit of happiness is more important than material wealth. Her passion for pop art continues to grow, and she is making a name for herself in the Miami art scene.
In recent years, she's collaborated with brands, including Meta, Puma, Foot Locker, Formula 1, Hugo Boss, Crypto Mining technologies (Bitsive) and became the first latina to collaborate with the French artist, Richard Orlinski.
