Today's 2 topics: - When asteroid hunters follow an object in the night sky for a few hours or a couple of days they are only able to observe a snippet or tracklet of the object's hundreds to thousands of days long path around the Sun. If we only have a short sample of an orbit we loose precision to locate the object as the length of time since the last observation increases. It is thus possible to lose the knowledge of where to find a particular asteroid. - It's a good thing this one will miss Earth!   NSF NOIRLab, funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), has released the fulldome planetarium show, Messengers of Time and Space. This free-to-download production brings the combination of the International Gemini Observatory, funded in part by NSF and operated by NSF NOIRLab, and NSF–DOE Vera C. Rubin Observatory, funded by NSF and the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Science and jointly operated by NOIRLab and DOE’s SLAC, to the forefront of humanity’s quest to understand our ever-changing cosmos. • EVSN - Moon Rock Samples Show Signs of Late Volcanism

  From October 7, 2021. An analysis of the most recent sample taken from the Moon and returned by the Chang’e-5  mission shows that the basaltic rock is about two billions years old. This age implies a previously unknown heat source in the region.
