  • An “All Birthday” Edition of RRR # 1,324 Nov. 30, 2025
Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t not tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s. Do you know who this fellow is? He’s a young Jimmie Revard, member of the Osage Nation and his is one of five birthdays we’ll be celebrating on this week’s “all-birthday” edition of Rapidly Rotating Records. I’m guess this photograph was taken before Jimmie put together his first western swing band while a student at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. You’ll find out more about Jimmie and hear three of his recordings in the second segment of the show. The other birthday segments this week are for Rosa Henderson, Percy Chandler, Ray Herbeck and George Wilton Ballard. There’s lots of great music and interesting information so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and prepare to be transported back to a different–and we think better–musical era. Just click the link above to listen streaming online and/or download for listening at your convenience. THANKS FOR LISTENING! ENJOY THE SHOW! Do you know who this fellow is? His real name is Barry Hansen, but he’s better known to his millions of fans as Dr. Demento. I’ve been a fan since the 1970s and recently had the pleasure of celebrating his 84th birthday at the L. A. Breakfast Club. So why is his the featured photograph on this week’s playlist? Well, you’ll find out in the second segment of this week’s show when I play a handful of “handful” records. Harry Harden and Lloyd Finlay will each have a birthday segment. • A “Ross Turner” Edition of RRR # 1,320 Nov. 2, 2025
Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t not tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s. Do you know who this fellow is? His name is Ross Turner. He’s not a composer, lyricist or instrumentalist, so you may wonder why his photograph is featured on this week’s playlist. Well, Ross was my boss (he hated the term!) for the 25 years I worked at Guided Discoveries until my retirement a few years ago. Ross passed away unexpectedly on October 9 and as my feeble attempt at a tribute and message to the family, the final segment of this week’s show is dedicated to him. If you’re not familiar with Ross and Kristi Turner and Guided Discoveries, after listening to the show I encourage you to find out more about them at the website gdi dot org. In other segments, we’ll hear some records that are just “ducky,” we’ll visit some dance halls, enjoy some musical chocolate and hear about some good girls.
